fooodlove

Overview
A mobile-first recipe blog for Mediterranean cuisine, built on a custom WordPress theme with its own branding, design system, and content backend — no bloat, no off-the-shelf plugins.
fooodlove is a recipe blog focused on easy Mediterranean dishes, built for an audience that mostly cooks with their phone in hand. That informed every decision we made.
The brief was clear from the start: no bloated plugin stacks, no generic themes. We designed a custom brand identity and visual system from scratch, then built a WordPress theme tailored entirely around how the creator works and what her readers need.
Cooking from a phone introduces UX considerations you don’t encounter on desktop. The screen needs to stay on, ingredients and steps need to be scannable at a glance, and the interface has to work with wet hands and a counter full of bowls. We thought carefully about type sizes, spacing, and how the recipe layout behaves during the actual cooking process, not just when someone is browsing for ideas.
Under the hood, we built a custom content backend capable of handling complex taxonomies, video embeds, and automated web stories. Publishing new content is straightforward, and the site is structured in a way that Google actually rewards. The blog has featured regularly on Google Discover, which means a steady stream of new readers finding the content every month.
Performance was non-negotiable. Fast page loads are baked into how the site is built, not bolted on as an afterthought.
